Columbia Gorge - Washington side

To get to my parent's house we travel up the Columbia Gorge. We've always travelled on the Oregon side of the gorge and decided this time around to drive up the Washington side and stop in places along the way.

Our first stop was Beacon Rock, made famous by Lewis and Clark. We thought this was going to be a leisurly hike, it turned out to be straight up the side of a cliff. Bronco was NONE to happy!!! It was a fun hike (next time I won't wear flip flops!) and we were very proud of ourselves when we got to the top. The hike took some pent-up energy out of Bronco and he slept most of the way after that!

We also found a cool place on the side of the road that was full of windsurfers.  It was like a hippy commune!

Ah, the Ocean

The weather has been so wonderful in OR. We took a day trip to Tillamook (didn't stop at cheese factory) up the coast to Seaside. We stopped off in Cannon Beach to walk the beach and eat a cup of clam chowder from Mo's. I love the ocean!

Here are some pics. Of course, it is windy at the ocean, so I got some cute new hairdos.

Magnus's new motor-baby

Magnus grew up around motorcycles. He owned a street bike when I met him (it went WAY to fast) and sold that and bought a dirt bike (which he had a head-over-heel accident in 2002 where I thought he died). He sold that bike before we moved to Oregon in 2004. 

Well, the riding itch got back to him (and the fact that our roommate in Oregon now owns a dirt bike didn't help) and Magnus has bought another bike.  This one can be rode on the streets (street legal) and offroad - so he has the best of both worlds.

Danno (our roommate) found the bike on Craigslist and it was in Seattle. While we were at my parents house in Yakima over the 4th of July weekend, Magnus got a call from Danno to check it out online.  It was a keeper. So the guys drove to Seattle to pick it up.

Magnus said it was a terrific deal, for the price he got for it. The guys are already busy planning on trips while the weather is good. Luckily, both Danno and Magnus have Thursdays and Fridays off together, so they can get some riding in while the girlfriends work.

Here are the pics. I think it's a 2000 Honda XR 650R (I am sure I got some of that wrong) - Magnus said he had a "Motorgasm" when he rode it for the first time. The thing is pretty powerful. He had me stand behind it and the output from the exhaust is very strong.

What Happens in Vegas....

....Never Happened! In celebration of Junkmonkie's last "real" class for her Master's Degree in Management (thesis to come!) and to get one last trip in before the big move to Oregon, the gang took their annual homage trip to Vegas.

Magnus,  JC and I stayed at Excalubur - because of the cheap rooms! Some gambling, lots of beverages and tons of walking. We had a great time and got to hang out with our friends Kris and Lisa while we were there. The guys played BlackJack, Poker and Craps. I played the $1 Wheel of Fortune game. In the end, we won some and didn't lose much (Trip was a success!)

Oregon - Here we come! (Again)

Yippee! Both Magnus and Junkmonkie were selected to go to Oregon in the Summer of 2006 for a temporary work assignment with Intel. This the second assignment for both of us. Bronco is super excited because he get's to hang out with is buddies, Jethro and Mac. We are excited because we get to hang out with our roommate, Danno.

Jethro is the Great Dane, Mac is the doggie next to Danno. The human is Danno!

The 2nd time around to Oregon - and we have PLANS whie we are there! The ocean, hiking, snowboarding, Canada and going to Junkmonkie's parents new house in Yakima, WA. 

Junkmonkie starts about 6 weeks earlier than Magnus, so Junkmonkie and Brono will be moving over 4th of July weekend (Junkmonkie is driving). Magnus will be leaving the 1st of August.  The current plan is to return the end of April 2007.
